Brian Posen has been named one of Chicago’s top 30 artists that make Chicago thrive numerous times throughout his 25+ year career in the arts. His career began at Indiana University Bloomington, graduating in 1987 with a BA in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Afterwards, he attended Columbia College in Chicago, graduating in 1990 with a BA in Acting. In 1993, Brian graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a MFA in acting and received the Charles Luckman Award Excellence in Teaching. Immediately after graduation, Brian was hired to the training program at Second City.
Immediately after graduation, Brian was hired to the training program at Second City. In 1994, he was hired as an instructor at Columbia College. He worked with both companies for over 25 years, as well as serving as a guest instructor at various post-secondary institutions and training centers across the world.
In 2002, Brian created and produced the Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, the largest festival in the nation. In 2010, the non-for-profit Brian created in the early 200s, Stage 773, breathed new life into a run down three-theater complex. Now, this complex is open 7 days a week and hosts hundreds of itinerant artistic companies, over 5,000 artists performing to over 75,000 patrons annually.
